Michigan vs Wisconsin in Big Ten championship: Prediction, tip time, TV channel, streaming

Michigan basketball will play its first Big Ten tournament championship game since 2019 on Sunday when the Wolverines try to take down Wisconsin at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Wolverines played the ultimate game of runs on Saturday against Maryland in a game filled with huge swings. Ultimately, Michigan found itself down 80-79 with less than five seconds left after Maryland star Derik Queen knocked down a pair of free throws to take the lead. But as the Wolverines have done all year long, they miraculously found a way to win. This time it was Tre Donaldson, finishing a coast-to-coast buzzer-beater to take an 81-80 lead with just a few ticks left on the game clock, not enough time for the Terrapins to even get a shot off.

Ball game.

Now, the 3-seed Wolverines (24-9) will try and squeeze out just a bit more magic vs. Wisconsin before a big Selection Sunday determines where Dusty May’s squad will start the Big Dance.

Both Michigan and Wisconsin will be in the NCAA tournament 68-team field is announced Sunday evening, but are hoping a Big Ten tournament title can potentially improve their seed.

Michigan vs Wisconsin prediction

Andrew Birkle, Detroit Free Press: Although the Wolverines entered the Big Ten tournament as a lock for the Big Dance, Michigan came to Indianapolis as desperate as almost anyone. Dusty May’s squad badly needed some momentum. No matter what happens on Sunday vs. the Badgers, priority No. 1 has been accomplished. However, there’s still some work to do before the Wolverines find out their seed and embark on the NCAA tournament, so why not go out there and win a championship? After losing three straight games to end the regular season, the Wolverines have seemingly rediscovered themselves and even though they needed a Tre Donaldson buzzer-beater to top Maryland, it’s impossible to miss how much better Michigan is playing than a week ago. The Wolverines use their newfound momentum and slightly fresher legs (the Badgers started the tournament on Thursday with a win over Northwestern) to beat Wisconsin and head into the NCAA tournament with all kinds of momentum. The pick: Michigan 78, Wisconsin 69.
