The New York Giants got a gamer in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft on Saturday in Arizona State running back Cameron Skattebo.
But even the toughest guys can become overwhelmed sometimes when they get the official welcoming call from the team drafting them.
Such was the case for Skattebo when Giants general manager Joe Schoen rang him up on Saturday informing him he was the newest member of the New York Football Giants.
Skattebo, who finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting last year and was named a First-Team All-American, felt like he belonged with the Giants — a team he met with recently at their facility.
“I felt comfortable,” he told reporters via a video conference on Saturday. “The coaches were very nice to me, made me feel like they wanted me a lot….I was very happy to be there, and I was enjoying the moment. New York was awesome to me, so I love being there, and I’m glad I’m going to be a Giant.”

So are the Giants. Skattebo is the type of player Schoen likes: Team-oriented and unselfish. But first, he wants to savor the moment.
“It’s just been nothing but unbelievable, and I’m proud to be a Giant, and everyone loves that I’m going to New York. We’re ready to go. We’re juiced up, and I’m excited to be there,” he said.
