Kentucky Derby 151 winner Sovereignty was relaxing on the backside at Churchill Downs Sunday morning.You can see video of the latest champion in the player above. Trainer Bill Mott said he was really hungry after the race and ate all his food in less that 20 minutes. He said that a strong appetite like that was pretty unusual for a horse that’s run that hard. Mott said the horse got a little scrape on the outside of his right front pastern, the part of the leg right above the hoof.He said it happened as he came out of the gate, and it’s about four inches long, but it looks superficial. As for future plans on running Sovereignty in the other two Triple Crown races, Mott said he is in discussion with the owner on that. “We want to do what’s best for the horse,” said Mott, but they are certainly considering it.He said they would arrive at a decision in the next few days.For now, Sovereignty will get two or three days off from training and stay at Churchill Downs.Mott said they expect to keep Sovereignty at Churchill Downs for about a week because it’s the best place to evaluate and assess him.
