Kirk Medas, ‘Floribama Shore’ Star, Dies at 33

Kirk Medas, a main cast member of MTV’s reality series “Floribama Shore,” died Friday in Miami, Fla. of complications due to liver failure. He was 33 years old. His death was confirmed by MTV in a statement to People.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the ‘Floribama Shore’ family,” a spokesperson for the network said. “Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.”

Per a report by TMZ, Medas had been hospitalized and put on a ventilator for the two weeks prior to his death. His family had stated that Medas had been diagnosed with necrotizing pancreatitis, meaning part of the pancreas had died.

The family had also started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Medas’ medical treatment and funeral arrangements, saying that “He has no medical insurance so your donations will be greatly appreciated.”

Medas was one of the eight main cast members of “Floribama Shore,” starring alongside Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Kortni Gilson, Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice and Gus Smyrnios. Launched in 2017, the show was produced as a Florida panhandle-set successor to the network-defining hit “Jersey Shore,” which ran on the network from 2009 to 2012.

“Floribama Shore” was filmed at Panama City Beach and St. Pete Beach for its first three seasons. The fourth season, produced during the COVID pandemic, split its production across several locations, including Montana, Arizona and Georgia. The series was then canceled in 2022.

Along with his time on “Floribama Shore,” Medas competed alongside his co-stars Buoni, Hall and Prowant on an episode of “Fear Factor,” facing off with “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” stars Nilsa, Jeremiah, Aimee and Kirk competed in a special episode of Fear Factor against Deena Nicole Cortese, Snooki, Pauly D and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Medas also featured on an episode of “How Far Is Tattoo Far?”
