With Steph Curry uncharacteristically quiet in the first half of Game 7 contest against the Houston Rockets, another sharpshooter stepped up got the Golden State Warriors. In the first half against the Rockets, Buddy Hield caught fire in Game 7 on Sunday.
In the opening two quarters, Hield set the tone with 22 points as the Warriors grabbed a four-point lead. Hield ended the first frame with a bang, drilling a deep buzzer-beater from just inside half-court at the end of the first quarter. After scoring 22 points in the first half, Hield added 11 points in the second half to lead the Warriors with a game-high 33 points in Golden State’s crucial Game 7 win to eliminate the Rockets on Sunday night.

Hield buried nine triples on 11 attempts from beyond the arc to go along with three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in a season-high 37 minutes.

Hield didn’t have one game in the regular season with over 30 points or over 35 minutes. Hield’s season-high from the regular season was 28 points in Golden State’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans in October.
Prior to lead the Warriors in Game 7, Hield finished Golden State’s loss in Game 6 scoreless on 0-for-4 shooting from the field in 16 minutes against the Rockets.

Hield finished the series averaging 10.8 points in seven games against the Rockets. Hield and the Warriors will now prepare to meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the postseason. Game 1 between the Warriors and Timberwolves is set for Tuesday in Minnesota.
