Garth Brooks is getting some heat for his recent performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

In celebration of the iconic Nashville music venue’s 100th anniversary, Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, were among the performers who took the stage to pay tribute to some of their fellow country music stars.

Brooks and Yearwood sang a duet in honor of George Jones and Tammy Wynette at the event on Wednesday, March 19, but fans had mixed feelings about the performance.

While many users on X (formerly Twitter) praised Yearwood, 60, for her part in the duet, a number of viewers shared pointed criticism for her husband.

“Wish Garth would have just sang the song instead of trying to impersonate George,” one person tweeted after the performance.

“This is a horrible rendition of this song,” another user wrote, while someone else claimed, “Garth Brooks can’t sing George Jones!”

“So disappointed Garth was invited,” another person added, noting they “Had to turn it off.”

Brooks, 63, has been dealing with fan backlash ever since it came to light in October 2024 that the country crooner was accused of sexual assault and battery by one of his former hair and makeup artists.

The unnamed woman alleged in her lawsuit that Brooks raped her in 2019 a couple of years after she began working for him. She also claimed to have worked for Yearwood several years earlier, back in 1999.

Brooks later spoke out to deny the allegations, insisting that he was filing a countersuit against the accuser for extortion and defamation.

The situation has left a dark cloud over Brooks’ reputation, with one critic even calling him and Yearwood the “biggest frauds in country music” after their Opry performance on Wednesday night.

“Eff Garth Brooks, and eff everyone in the room applauding him,” another angry user tweeted.
