The Indiana Pacers swung home-court advantage in their favor after a 121-112 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena on Sunday. Indiana almost gave up a double-digit halftime lead, but star point guard Tyrese Haliburton put the team on his back and led them to victory.

Haliburton finished the game with 22 points and 13 assists while shooting 60 percent from the field.

“He makes all of us better,” Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard said. “He’s kind of old school in the way he plays pure point guard. He can really carve up a defense. Everybody likes playing with him, you get the ball in the spots you like and in rhythm.”

All-Star guard Darius Garland missed his third straight game for Cleveland due to a toe injury, and Haliburton proved he was clearly the best floor general on the court.

Haliburton also made a significant impact on the defensive end, recording a steal and three blocks. Standing 6-5, Haliburton has the size and length to disrupt the offensive rhythm of opposing point guards.

“We’re just trying to be a confident group coming into this series,” Haliburton said. “There’s not a lot of people picking us to win by any means. We’re definitely the heavy underdog, but we’re trying to control what we can as a group, just keep believing in what we do.”

As someone who was voted the league’s most overrated player, Haliburton is continuing to block out all the noise and let his play on the court prove his worth. The Indiana Pacers will look to build upon their momentum heading into game two and steal another road victory.
