Megan Thee Stallion was on some real hot girl s— with her Coachella 2025 set, but what was shaping up to be a highlight of the weekend ended on a low note when her sound was cut mid-song.
The “Savage” rapper put on a headliner-worthy show on the main stage at the Indio, Calif., music festival on Sunday night, despite not actually being one of the headliners. Churning through hit after hit song with high energy and clean choreography, Megan also brought out three surprise guests: Queen Latifah, Ciara, and Victoria Monét.
But her performance was also plagued with technical issues, and ended with her sound getting cut entirely halfway through “Mamushi.”
Megan was clearly frustrated with the constant glitches during her set. Earlier, she yelled into the mic, “Somebody better come out here and fix my motherf—ing microphone!” And at the end of the set when the sound went out completely, she said, “Don’t do the hotties like that.”
She tossed her hair and continued to dance through the song’s choreography and rap into the silent microphone as the crowd chanted, “Megan! Megan! Megan!” Ultimately, she and her dancers left the stage when the sound didn’t come back.

Technical issues aside, Megan still managed to deliver one of the best sets of the weekend, only three years after her Coachella debut. She had the crowd going wild from start to finish, but she got the biggest cheers when she brought out each surprise guest.
Queen Latifah rapped with Megan through “Plan B” and “Unity,” and the two icons shared a hug at the end. Then Victoria Monét was flipped through the air by Megan’s backup dancers before singing “Spin” and “On My Mama,” and putting the moves on Megan.
But perhaps the biggest surprise (and definitely the biggest crowd reaction) came when Ciara joined Megan onstage, because the “1, 2 Step” singer did not make an appearance during Missy Elliott’s Friday night set to perform that song together. When Megan began rapping “Roc Steady,” which samples “Goodies,” she then shocked everyone by bringing out Ciara to perform “Goodies” in full. “I love you Meg and I’m so proud of you!” Ciara shouted after hugging Megan.

Even when Megan was performing solo, she knew exactly how to keep the crowd invested in her set. A high point that was equal parts daring and hilarious came halfway through the set with Megan did a quick change backstage but fully on-camera, which was then streamed onto the massive screens for everyone to see her body-ody-ody as she was stripped down to her thong.
She vamped for the camera as if it was her mirror, checking her grill and twerking into pants as her team helped her.
If Megan’s Coachella 2025 set is going to be remembered for its behind-the-scenes logistics, hopefully it will be because of her bold way of incorporating her quick change into the performance and not for the sound issues. Because she — and that performance — deserve better.
