Marvel Studios has officially unveiled the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, the next epic chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Set to premiere on May 1, 2026, the movie will bring together a powerhouse lineup of returning superheroes, new faces, and surprising additions from across the Marvel multiverse.
Familiar heroes return to the battle
Leading the charge is Chris Hemsworth, once again wielding Mjolnir as Thor. He’ll be joined by Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan‘s Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, and Paul Rudd‘s Scott Lang/Ant-Man.
Several newer MCU characters will also be making an appearance, including Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, and David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian.
Adding to the mix, three actors from this summer’s Fantastic Four: First Steps-Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn-are confirmed to be part of the lineup.
The cast reveal didn’t stop at the usual suspects. Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who portrayed Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is set to return, along with Kelsey Grammer‘s Beast, who recently appeared in The Marvels.
The biggest surprises came with the announcement that Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki, Patrick Stewart‘s Professor X, and Ian McKellen‘s Magneto will all be part of Avengers: Doomsday.
While it remains unclear how these legendary characters will fit into the storyline, their presence hints at a multiverse-spanning showdown. Some may play crucial roles in forming a new Avengers team, while others could make brief but significant appearances.
The last major Avengers team-up occurred in 2019’s Endgame, where the heroes triumphed over Thanos but lost Tony Stark/Iron Man in the process. Now, in a shocking twist, Robert Downey Jr. is set to return-not as the beloved hero, but as the infamous villain Doctor Doom.
With its star-studded cast, the return of fan-favorite characters, and an unexpected new antagonist, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the MCU’s most ambitious projects yet. Fans will have to wait until 2026 to see how this epic battle unfolds.
