INDIANAPOLIS — Fresh off Indiana’s win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, Pacers fans are feeling good about their favorite team’s chances to beat the Milwaukee Bucks and move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
“Four to one,” Pacers fan Matt Fawley said of his team’s prospects in the best-of-seven series. “I think five games, go to Milwaukee, go get one, get one, kind of a pity one, come back here. Everything‘s gonna work out great.”
Pacers fans haven’t felt the thrill of their team making deep postseason runs in back-to-back seasons in many years.
“It’s been a long time for the Pacers,” fan James Douglas said. “So, it’s about time for us to go all the way. We need to go all the way on this one.”
Fans said there was energy from the hardwood to the roof inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.
“The crowd was hype,” said Pacers fans Niel and Eric Carr. “The crowd was in it the whole time. Bucks never stood a chance. Giannis got his 35, 36, whatever he ended up with, but nevertheless (Andrew) Nembhard, the whole team was rocking it. We were killing it.”
Pacers fans believe their team is now demonstrating how deeply rooted basketball is in the State of Indiana.
“Pacers Nation and we’re celebrating,” fan Sampson Levingston said. “Shoutout to the home team. Naptown, cradle of basketball. We grow basketballs out the ground. That’s what all this is.”
