On Thursday, the Detroit Pistons get set to host their first NBA Playoff game in six years, hosting the New York Knicks in Game 3 of their first-round series.
The Pistons came out with a strong effort in the second game of the series, and much better defensive effort to even the series. Unlike the series opener, Detroit was able to hang on and avoid a fourth-quarter collapse. Though the Knicks were able to close the gap, a couple of key defensive stops and some clutch baskets helped give the Pistons a 100-94 win, ending a 17-year playoff winless drought.
Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 33 points, registering a double-double with 12 rebounds. Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren each had double-doubles as well, with Harris scoring 15 points with 13 boards, while Duren notched 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Jalen Brunson led all players with 37 points, while Mikal Bridges chimed in with 19 points for the Knicks in the losing effort.
