BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Police are investigating the death of a former Vermont child actor as a possible unintentional overdose.
Bennington police say Marion “Sophie” Nyweide, 24, of Manchester, Vermont, was found dead near the bank of the Roaring Branch River off Park Street early in the morning of April 14.
She was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say another person was with Nyweide and called 911 for help, and is fully cooperating.
They say they are investigating Nyweide’s death as a possible unintentional overdose, and say they are still waiting for a final autopsy and toxicology reports from the medical examiner.

Nyweide had her first major film at just 6 years old. She was best known for her roles in “Bella,” “Mammoth” and “Noah.”
Her family said the Burlington native spent most of her brief life in Vermont and New York City. They also said, “She seemed happiest on a movie set, becoming someone else. It was a safe place for her.”
