Athletes took to the streets for the 129th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21. Temperatures were in the low 50s at the start of the races under sunny skies with mild wind. It was a super fast course on Patriots’ Day as the course record went down in the women’s race.

Dan Beck is the deputy news editor at Runner’s World. He has led news coverage teams for major running events like the Olympic Games, World Athletics Championships, Boston Marathon, and New York City Marathon.
