Draymond Green heard the chants from Houston Rockets fans during their Game 2 win over the Golden State Warriors.
But thanks to Boston Celtics fans, it didn’t faze him.
“It’s not original,” Green told reporters after Wednesday’s game. “Been there before. Won a championship while it was happening. So yeah, it’s not really original. Can’t steal other people’s (expletive). That belongs to Boston. So, I kinda just kept pushing.”
Green heard the same “(Expletive) you, Draymond!” chants in 2022 when the Warriors and the Celtics met in the NBA Finals. The fans let Green know how they feel about him in Game 3, which drew mixed reactions from coach Steve Kerr, who sarcastically called the crowd “classy,” while Klay Thompson said it wasn’t a factor.
For Green, though, he embraced being the villain.
I enjoy it,” he said. “I didn’t really feed off of it tonight. I don’t think I fed off much tonight. But yeah, that’s — that’s something that I enjoy. Waste a lot of energy talking to me, so it’s great. It’s great. Looking forward to Friday.”
The Warriors went on to beat the Celtics at TD Garden in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals, so Green got the last laugh.
