All injured FSU students except one soon to be released from Tallahassee hospital

A spokesperson for Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare said he anticipates two more Florida State University shooting victims to be discharged Monday, April 21.

Greg Salyer told the Tallahassee Democrat three of the shooting victims already have been released; the final patient remains in the hospital in good condition. Generally, that means there are no immediate medical concerns and the overall prognosis is positive.

Doctors at TMH held a press conference April 18, a day after the shooting, where they provided updates on the victims’ health.

Dr. Brett Howard, a trauma surgeon, said six victims were treated for gunshot wounds to their extremities, to the torso and even the face. “These folks are definitely very fortunate,” he said at the press conference.

Three of the six patients needed surgery and were in the operating room within an hour of arriving at the hospital. One person needed facial surgery. None were treated for non-gunshot wounds.
