The Mets played an all-around good game last night in Houston as they notched their first win of the season, but the standout moment of the game was undeniably Juan Soto’s absolute laser beam of a home run. It looked like this.
And from the traditional camera angle, here it is again.
The ball came off Soto’s bat at 107.3 miles per hour and a 27° angle, and its official distance per Statcast was 390 feet.
On top of being Soto’s first home run as a Met, it was also the Mets’ first home run of the 2025 season. And through the first two games of this series with the Astros, it’s the only home run that’s been hit thus far.
For Soto’s career, the home run was number 202, and coming off the past two seasons that saw him hit 35 and 41 home runs, respectively, it’s entirely possible that the 26-year-old has only just begun to reach his peak power potential.
