The 129th Boston Marathon gets underway on Monday morning, and while most of the 31,000 runners are simply trying to reach the finish line on Boylston Street, a select few are fighting for the win.
Defending champions like Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma, Kenyan Hellen Obiri, Switzerland’s Marcel Hug, and Great Britain’s Eden Rainbow-Cooper are back in what will be a talented field of elite competitors at this year’s iteration of Boston’s iconic race.
Stay up to date with all of the details in this year’s finish. Here’s a list of the 2025 Boston Marathon winners and top results:
Men’s wheelchair: Hug, known as “the Silver Bullet,” is going for his eighth title in Boston (and fourth in a row).
Women’s wheelchair: Rainbow-Cooper was a first-time champion in Boston in 2024, and will face competition from fellow former winners Manuela Schar and Susannah Scaroni.
Men’s race: Lemma, 34, won last year in 2:06:17 after making a strong push early in the race.
Women’s race: Obiri is the defending champion not only from 2024, but also 2023. In 2025, she will try to become the first women’s runner since Fatuma Roba in 1999 to three-peat.
