You probably have a lot of questions about the Yankees’ new “torpedo” bats. The Post’s Greg Joyce answers some of them here.
Q: Only five Yankees are using them. Will that number go up?
A: It’s possible, but baseball players are largely creatures of habit, so some — like Aaron Judge — don’t want to fix what’s not broken. And others might take longer to come around on it, though it’s not for everybody. The Yankees are not recommending that their players should be using it, but are making accommodations if they want to try.
For what it’s worth, Anthony Volpe and Cody Bellinger said they both went through multiple versions of the torpedo bat before settling on the ones they are using now. Figuring out the proper weight distribution takes trial and error — good for a time like spring training but harder to do once the regular season is underway.
