Boston is referred to as Beantown, but it became the city of brotherly love on Monday when John Korir took home the win at the Boston Marathon.John, the brother of former University of Louisville star track and cross country runner Wesley, took home the win in a blazing time of 2:04:45. That’s an average pace of 4:46/mile.His win marked the first time that brothers have both won the Boston Marathon, with Wesley getting the win back in 2012. John bested his brother’s time of 2:12:40 by nearly eight minutes.John’s 2025 Boston Marathon win is his second major win, as he came out on top in the Chicago Marathon in 2024. Monday’s performance from John Korir is even more impressive when you consider he took a fall seconds into the race. He was able to pick himself up and grind the lead pack later in the race to win.Second and third place both finished 19 seconds behind John Korir, and the first American male came in fourth.It was a historic day on the women’s side of the race, with the top three finishers beating the previous course record of 2:19:59 set in 2014. Sharon Lokedi took the top spot in 2:17:22, while Hellen Obiri placed second in 2:17:41, and Yalemzerf Yehualaw came in third at 2:18:06.
