NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A performance by Carrie Underwood and the legendary Randy Travis brought the Grand Ole Opry House to tears on Wednesday evening.
Nearly 20 years ago, Carrie Underwood was invited to become a member of the Grand OIe Opry by the legendary Country artist Randy Travis.
Seventeen years later in 2025, she graced the stage again during the Opry 100 Celebration as the Grand Ole Opry House celebrates its centennial birthday.
This time, Carrie took to the stage to perform a Randy Travis tribute singing two of his biggest hits, Three Wooden Crosses and Forever and Ever, Amen.
During the last chorus, Carrie moved down to the crowd where Randy was and pointed the mic to him letting him sing the last “Amen” instantly bringing tears and rapturous applause to the crowd.
In 2013, Randy suffered a stroke that severely impacted his ability to speak and sing which led to aphasia. According to the National Institutes of Health, aphasia is a disorder that impairs the expression and understanding of language as well as reading, writing, and speech.
