HOUSTON — If you were downtown on Saturday morning, you might have seen it!
The 2025 LULAC District VIII Cinco de Mayo Parade was held to celebrate the cultural holiday.
LULAC said it’s the biggest Cinco de Mayo parade in the city.
Local schools participated as the colorful floats took to the downtown streets along with lively performances.
The Houston Police Department also took part in the parade, making sure it was safe for all to enjoy.
Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that celebrates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It was a symbolic win for the less-equipped Mexican force. It’s not a federal holiday in Mexico, but it is widely celebrated.

Cinco de Mayo in the United States has evolved into a celebration of Mexican-American culture. Traditionally, it’s celebrated with parades, music, food and dancing.
