Dodgers on Deck: March 31 vs. Braves

After an off day on Sunday, the Dodgers welcome the Braves to town, their recent playoff foes in 2018, 2020, and 2021 and perennial postseason participants.

Monday’s series opener features Tyler Glasnow’s first start of the season. After last year starting two of the Dodgers’ first three games — in Seoul and the home opener at Dodger Stadium — Glasnow’s first start of 2025 comes in the sixth game of the year, also the product of a disjointed continental schedule that will have Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki already start twice this year before Glasnow or Tuesday starter Dustin May touch the mound in a major league game.

Most importantly for Glasnow, he’s healthy again after an elbow sprain ended his season in mid-August last year. The right-hander pitched in three Cactus League games in Arizona, pitched in an exhibition game against Hanshin at the Tokyo Dome, and started in the Freeway Series on Monday in Anaheim. In all of those exhibition outings, Glasnow allowed four runs in his 15 innings, with five walks and 26 strikeouts, the latter at a 44-percent rate.

“I felt on time, everything felt good. I felt this spring went well,” Glasnow told reporters in Anaheim on Monday. “All things I really wanted to work on all felt pretty good, so I’m ready to go.”

Grant Holmes, the Dodgers’ first-round pick in 2014 who was traded away for Rich Hill in 2016 and who made his major league debut last season, starts Monday for the Braves.
