Billy Ray Cyrus‘ life is better with Elizabeth Hurley in it.
The two stars debuted their romance in an Instagram post shared April 20, and a Cyrus source is now opening up about how his life is positively affected by the relationship after he filed divorce from ex-wife Firerose in May 2024.
The source tells PEOPLE that Hurley, 59, is “amazing” for the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer, 63, adding that he’s been focused on moving forward. “The divorce and drama put him down. It was depressing,” says the source.
“Liz is perfect for him to move on,” adds the source of Cyrus. “And she won’t put up with any nonsense.”
Reps for Cyrus and Hurley had no comment.

The Grammy winner quietly filed for divorce from singer Firerose in May 2024 after seven months of marriage. They’d been together since around August 2022.
He was previously married to Tish Cyrus for 28 years before the pair separated in April 2022. Together, they share five children: daughters Miley, Noah and Brandi, and sons Trace and Braison. Billy Ray also shares son Christopher Cody with Kristen Luckey, whom he dated prior to Tish.
Hurley was married to businessman Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2011.
PEOPLE confirmed the Austin Powers actress and Billy Ray’s relationship earlier this week after they sparked romance rumors with an Instagram photo of him kissing her cheek on April 20.

A Cyrus source said the pair have known each other for years and met on the set of 2022’s Christmas in Paradise movie, filmed on the Caribbean island of Nevis.
“Liz is great and visited him for Easter. They’ve been seeing each other romantically for a little bit,” says the source. “And how lucky is he? Liz is lovely. She’s very warm, positive and the best to be around.”
The source adds that Cyrus genuinely enjoyed working with her during filming: “They had a great time shooting that movie together — it was beautiful and relaxed, and it really stuck with him.”
Hurley previously sparked speculation about her relationship with Billy Ray when she used his song “She’s Not Cryin’ Anymore” in an April 9 Instagram post — and tagged him in a photo of herself in a bikini.
