Forever 21 is closing its U.S. stores — including its last two in Kansas City.

After years of financial hardship, the company filed for bankruptcy again over the weekend, according to reporting from USA Today.

During a hearing, legal counsel for Forever 21 indicated that it would shut down all its remaining 354 stores by the end of April. F21 OpCo, the operator of Forever 21 in the United States, is looking for a buyer for its remaining assets.

Both remaining stores in Kansas City — 11799 W. 95th St. in Overland Park and 7121 NW 86th Terrace No. 117 — confirmed to The Star that they were closing.

The employees with the Overland Park spot, in Oak Park Mall, said they had not been given a closing date. The Zona Rosa location said it would shut down March 30.

This is the second time in six years that Forever 21 has filed for bankruptcy. In court, the U.S. operator cited competition in the fast fashion realm as part of the reason for its downfall, as well as changes in consumer habits.

The company released a statement about its closing on its website, where it’s selling its merchandise for up to 80% off.

“We are deeply grateful for the support you have shown us over the years, but rising costs and increased competition from abroad have made our current business model unsustainable,” the statement reads, in part.

Last year, Forever 21 closed three Kansas City area stores: on the Country Club Plaza, Independence Center and Legends Outlets in Kansas City, Kansas.
