Following the news that Lacy died of an apparent suicide after leading Houston-area police on a chase on Saturday, April 12, Nabers, 21, penned an emotional tribute to his late friend on social media.

“Pain. Numb. Sad. Sorrowful. Downcast. Hurt. Broken. Devastated. Empty. Miserable 💔💔,” the Giants wide receiver began in his post on Instagram, which included a carousel of images of the two former teammates over the years.

When we had that talk before dat game I made history, I realized we was twins across Louisiana tryna get it the same way😭😭.”

Lacy was found dead by deputies with the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office at approximately 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, after he crashed his car near the 25900 block of Aldine Westfield, about 25 miles north of downtown Houston, PEOPLE confirmed.

Lacy was accused of causing the crash and then fleeing the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities. He then declared for the 2025 NFL Draft two days after the incident.
