Glen Powell’s mom, Cyndy Powell, shut down rumors that he is romantically involved with Sydney Sweeney following her split from fiancé Jonathan Davino.

“They’re definitely not together,” Cyndy told the Daily Mail on Tuesday, calling speculation about their relationship “silly.”

“[There is] nothing going on behind closed doors,” she added.

The “Anyone But You co-stars” reunited in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend to celebrate the wedding of Glen’s younger sister Leslie Powell, who Cyndy says is “really close friends” with Sweeney.

“We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend,” she told the outlet. “We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”

Photos of Sweeney, 27, and Glen, 36, together before the nuptials led social media users to question whether their friendship had turned into something more. Many fans have been rooting for the two to get together ever since their undeniable chemistry made headlines in 2023.

However, the Powell matriarch made it clear that Sweeney did not attend the wedding as Glen’s date. Cyndy said Sweeney RSVP’d for the event “a long time ago” and brought her best friend as her plus-one following her breakup from Davino.

Although Sydney and Glen get along great, Cyndy suggested that the ship has sailed on the possibility of romance between the two.

“He’s the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends,” she said of her son. “And Sydney is a friend. They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people.”

“They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point,” she added.

Cyndy noted that the pair’s love lives are “none of [her] business” and that she wants “what’s best for everybody.”

As for her son, she would love to see him end up with “somebody that loves him unconditionally” and vice versa.

“And they take care of each other and live happily ever after,” she said.

However, she admitted that he is “too busy right now” to give his full attention to dating.

“He’s a family man. He wants a family and he wants his happily ever after. It’s just not right now,” she ended.

The “Top Gun: Maverick” star has not publicly dated anyone since his April 2023 split from Gigi Paris. The exes, who dated for over three years, called it quits while he was filming “Anyone But You” in Australia with Sweeney.

Sweeney quietly separated from her longtime partner in January largely in part due to her busy career.

On Monday, sources told People that the “Euphoria” star and Davino wanted different things, with the businessman looking forward to marriage and kids while the actress was focused on work.

“She’s not ready to settle down,” the insider claimed. “They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”

Although a breakup is never easy, the source said Sweeney is “exactly where she wants to be.”

“Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects,” the insider shared.

“What did make her overwhelmed, though, was her relationship and her wedding,” they added. She didn’t feel right about it.”

The “White Lotus” star began dating Davino in 2018 and they got engaged four years later. The couple kept most of their relationship out of the public eye but breakup rumors first started to swirl in February after TMZ reported that Sweeney postponed their wedding.

It was later revealed that she was living apart from the businessman.
