A regional vice president for Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, he was at FSU working with a campus vendor at the time of the shooting.
A spokesperson for Aramark released the following statement to FOX Carolina:
“We are heartbroken to confirm that an Aramark employee was among those killed at FSU yesterday in that senseless act of violence. We are absolutely shaken by the news and our deepest sympathies are with the family and our entire Aramark community.”
“Tiru Chabba’s family is going through the unimaginable now,” said attorney Bakari Sellers of The Strom Law Firm. “Instead of hiding Easter eggs and visiting with friends and family, they’re living a nightmare where this loving father and devoted husband was stolen from them in an act of senseless and preventable violence.”
Sellers and Jim Bannister of Bannister, Wyatt & Stalvey have been hired by Chabba’s family.
“We ask you to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as we fight to ensure they see justice that honors the memories of Mr. Chabba and all the victims of Thursday’s shooting,” Sellers said.
A spokesperson for Bob Jones University said Chabba worked with their staff distributing free lunches during Helene.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tiru Chabba, Regional Vice President at Aramark. He collaborated with our campus liaisons to fulfill our Aramark contract and dining service needs. His care for others and joyful spirit were evident in the days following Hurricane Helene when he personally visited our campus to support recovery efforts and distribute free lunches to the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
