Ashton Hall, a fitness influencer and coach, went viral this week for his “Morning Routine” videos, with one in particular making the rounds on various social media sites.
It shows Hall waking up around 3:30am to get his day started, with many people making note that he seemingly fills much of his time wandering around his home while knocking out tasks such as drinking water, eating bananas, dipping his face into a cold bath twice, and more.
While it may be a sincere reflection of Hall’s time, many interpreted the clip as pretentious and performative, resulting in several creators mocking the post with “morning routines” of their own (even Spotify and McDonald’s got in on the trend). Eventually, Hall caught wind of his viral moment, and chose to address being “copied” by the masses.
“So many videos are being sent to me, duplicates of my video,” the internet star began within the clip shared Monday (March 24) afternoon. “This is for the creators sick and tired of their work being copied…If you’re going to be a leader, then people will follow you. I realized that God has me here to lead, not to follow anyone… I used to block anyone who was doing anything similar to me…then I realized people follow Jesus. Why? Because he was great. As a Christian man, why are you angry if they’re following you?”
“They aren’t copying they are making fun of you,” wrote a follower on the influencer‘s TikTok page, with another questioning, “did he compare himself with Jesus?”
“I don’t think bro knows he’s a meme, not that people are copying him,” added another commenter, echoing the sentiment shared by many who watched the clip. While it may seem like Hall isn’t in on the joke, the gym rat shared yet another morning routine video Monday (March 24) evening, where he pokes fun at some of the more viral moments from the initial clip, like rubbing the peel of his banana on his skin and breaking his blue Saratoga water bottle. He’s also seen scrolling through the many memes and videos others creators made making fun of his own. Check that out, as well as a few comedic takes on Hall’s routine, below.
