For the fourth straight year, the LA Kings will face off against the Edmonton Oilers. For LA, they will be looking to win their first playoff series since 2014. As for the Oil, they will be looking to return to the Stanley Cup Finals, where they lost Game 7 to the Florida Panthers.

Kulak goes off for holding and LA will get their first chance on the power play.

GOAL Andrey Kuzmenko with a backdoor tap in off a feed from Fiala. 1-0 LAK.

Great first opening five minutes from LA.

Not much sustained o-zone time for either side up to this point.

Doughty goes off for cross-checking and the Oilers will get their first crack on the power play.

McDavid buzzing in the shot goes wide. One-timer from Draisaitl eaten up by Kuemper.

Kings kill off Doughty’s minor. Good aggressive PK.

Skinner with a hard shot but Kuemper fights it off.

Boos ringing out whenever Darnell Nurse touches the puck. I wonder what that is all about?

Oilers starting to cycle in the LA zone.

Hard shot from the slot by Foegele is saved by Skinner.

Ice starting to open up a bit in both directions.

One-timer from Bouchard gloved down by Kuemper.

Wrister from downtown by McDavid easily gloved by Kuemper. Oilers starting to come on a bit now.

Good individual effort from Kuzmenko to find Gavrikov with a one-time from the point, but’s its blocked on its way in.

Kuzmenko tried to find Kempe in the slot but his pass is blocked.

Guys are getting blown up all over the ice right now.

GOAL Quinton Byfield! Bats the puck in off of Skinner’s backside. LAK 2-0.

END OF 1st PERIOD

Great start from LA. They capitalize off their first PP opportunity and kill off the Oilers’ only PP chance. Added a late even-strength goal from Byfield to go up 2-0. Shots and scoring chances pretty even. Big missed call as Laferriere is boarded in the neutral zone right in front of the ref. Couldn’t tell you what he was looking at.

2nd Period

Puck is down for frame number two!

Up to this point, LA doing a good job of controlling McDavid’s and Draisaitl’s time and space.

Byfield skates down the wing with a lot of room but tries to pass it back to Laferriere. Shoot it, Q.

Kuzmenko races down the ice and almost tucks it by Skinner on a jam play from behind the net. Skinner makes a great pad save there to keep it 2-0.

Fiala one-timer from the point gloved down by Skinner.

Foegele with a good luck but Skinner makes the save.

Edmonton still looking for their first shot on goal in the period.

First Edmonton shot on goal comes on a big clapper from Bouchard. Kuemper fights it off.

Good look from Byfield but Skinner makes the pad save.

Joel Edmundson is hulking in the D-zone. Tried to check Corey Perry to Glendale.

GOAL Kopi to Kuzy to Kempe. Kempe with his 12th career playoff goal makes it 3-0 LAK. Crypto.com Arena is buzzing big time.

GOAL Terrible turnover by Bouchard goes right to Q who feeds it to Danault to make it 4-0 LAK. The Oilers looked stuned.

GOAL Incredible effort by McDavid to find Draisaitl for a one-timer from the dot. 4-1 LAK.

An overall great 40 minutes from the Kings. They have been physical and up until the very end of the period, had done a great job of neutralizing McDavid and Draisaitl. Of course, with those two, it’s not really a question of if but rather of when. If you can hold those guys to just a point or two, you have a good shot of winning the series.

3rd Period

Underway in the 3rd period!

Big push from the Oilers.

GOAL Janmark bangs one in past Kuemper from the crease. 4-2 LAK

Hyman checks Brandt Clarke right in the back of the head and LA goes on the power play.

LA creating good chances on this power play. Skinner stops Kuzmenko from in tight and tempers flare.

Nurse with a short-handed counter rush but Kuemper makes the save.

Walman goes off for roughing on Danault. LA will have a short 5-on-3 power play.

GOAL Fiala wastes no time and buries a bomb by Skinner. 5-2 LAK and they still have 1:40 left on their 5-on-4.

McDavid with a short-handed bid but Kuemper makes the save. Good defending by Doughty to bother McDavid just enough.

Edmonton back to even-strength.

GOAL McDavid beats Gavrikov off the boards and he slides the puck over to Corey Perry for a tap-in. 5-3 LAK with about 12 minutes to go.

Byfield drives down the wing and fires on Skinner, who makes the save.

Walman goes off for delay of game. LA goes back on the power play. Hold up, the Oilers are using a coach’s challenge here. Unsuccessful challenge= 5-on-3 for a full two minutes.

A plethora of great looks for LA on the power play but they can’t convert. Huge kill for the Oilers.

Anderson goes for hooking. Edmonton goes on the power play with a chance to cut the lead to one.

Good look from Draisaitl that hits Perry and trickles toward Kuemper who gloves it down.

LA kills it off and the Oilers are 0/2 on the power play tonight.

Skinner on the bench with 3:32 to go. Empty net for Edmonton.

Moore takes a crack at the empty net but puts it just wide.

Timeout Edmonton with 2:40 remaining in the 3rd.

Danault wins the draw and Doughty tries the ENG but shanks it wide.

GOAL McDavid find Hyman right in front who lifts over Kuemper’s pad. 5-4 LAK with 2:04 to play.

GOAL Kings get complacent and McDavid skates through everybody and ties the game. 5-5. Crowd at Crypto is stunned.

GOAL Moore pulls up and finds the trailer Danault who floats one past Skinner. 6-5 LAK. This game is on some sort of substance.

Clean draw back to Bouchard who winds one up but Kuemper see it all the way.
