NEW YORK (WKRC) – The official cause of death for actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was revealed.

Trachtenberg, 39, was found dead in her New York City apartment just after 8 a.m. on Feb. 28.

The actress had been dealing with medical issues in her personal life, including a liver transplant that had allegedly failed according to a source obtained by NBC New York.

According to the New York Medical Examiner’s Office, Trachtenberg died from complications with diabetes.

An inside source reportedly told People, “[Trachtenberg] was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling. She was ‘pale, gaunt, very thin, and dealing with health issues.'”
