No No. 1 seed has gone down yet, and the SEC is assured of at least three teams in the Elite Eight, with as many as five.
Deep-pocketed schools with box office names in college basketball are thriving, setting up made-for-TV matchups such as Saturday’s regional final between Cooper Flagg, Duke and the offensive wizardry of Alabama.
At the start of the tournament, predictive analytics experts Dimers said Duke had a 27.1% chance to win the NCAA championship.
Dimers also said Florida had a 69.7% chance to reach the Final Four.
Both schools will be playing for a spot in the Final Four on Saturday, and the two could be on a collision course to meet in the NCAA championship game on April 7 in San Antonio.
On Thursday, Texas Tech-Arkansas delivered the first overtime game of March Madness after the Red Raiders stormed back from 13 points down with less than five minutes left in regulation to stun the Razorbacks.
And Alabama poured in an NCAA Tournament-record 25 3-pointers in its 113-88 victory against BYU. The Crimson Tide’s 25 made 3s shattered the previous record of 21 was set by Loyola Marymount in 1990.
Friday’s action gets underway with Michigan State-Mississippi at 7:09 p.m., on CBS.
