'No, Thank you': Danish media claims US officials went door-to-door to find audience for Usha Vance

Amid aggressive tones exchanged over Vice President JD Vance and Second Landy Usha Vance’s visit to Greenland, Danish TV 2 reported that ahead of the visit, which was supposed to be a solo visit of Usha Vance, US officials went door-to-door in Greenland looking for locals who wanted to receive a visit from the Second Lady. The response was cold like the weather that irked JD Vance much when he finally arrived at the island. No residents reportedly wanted to attend any event of the Second Lady. “No, thank you.”

After Usha Vance’s visit was announced, both Greenland and Denmark reacted sharply to the proposed visit and said nobody invited Usha Vance to Greenland, the island that Donald Trump wants to capture. Amid rising tempers, JD Vance announced that he would join Usha on her trip. Tupilak Travel, which had a meet-and-greet event with Usha Vance, canceled the event as they sensed the underlying agenda of the vice presidential visit.

JD Vance spent three hours touring a US military base. He said Washington would not have to use force to take Greenland and President Trump would be able to make a deal given how Denmark treated Greenland. “Our message to Denmark is very simple,” Vance said. “You have not done a good job by the people of Greenland.”

“I think Greenland understands that the United States should own it,” he said in a press conference on Friday. “And if Denmark and the EU don’t understand it, we have to explain it to them. We need Greenland. Very importantly, for international security, we have to have Greenland.” Vance also did not like the weather and said it was “cold as s**t”.

Denmark said it did not like the tone of Vance as this is not how allies speak about each other. “We are open to criticisms, but let me be completely honest, we do not appreciate the tone in which is being delivered. This is not how you speak to your close allies, and I still consider Denmark and the United States to be close allies,” said Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen in a video posted to X.
