The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch at 8:21 a.m. for Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia through 3 p.m. Sunday as “a broken line of severe storms with damaging potential of 50-70 mph and isolated tornadoes possible as it moves across the region from west to east through the afternoon hours and exits into the Atlantic early this evening.”
This impacts Ponte Vedra Beach and TPC Sawgrass, site of the 2025 Players Championship.
The Players moved up its final round tee times to 8 a.m. Sunday, with final tee times expected at 10:01 a.m. Groups will go out in threesomes rather than pairs.
The NWS reported by mid evening, showers and storms are expected to be offshore and/or south of the forecast area. Clearing skies are expected tonight and cooler temperatures will filter into the area with temps falling into the upper 40s and lower 50s with northwest winds slowly diminishing.
If The Players is pushed into Monday, it should have clear but cold conditions early with high winds.
