After letting yesterday’s matchup slip away and watching Max Scherzer leave the game early, the Toronto Blue Jays try to salvage a split this afternoon from their opening series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Veteran Chris Bassitt takes the ball for Toronto, but my Orioles vs. Blue Jays predictions signal another productive day at the plate for a Baltimore lineup that’s piled up 30 hits through three outings while flashing major upside for the AL East pennant race.

My Orioles vs Blue Jays best bet: Adley Rutschman Over 1.5 total bases (+120 at Caesars)
This Baltimore Orioles lineup has made a roaring start to the 2025 season — and the question marks around the starting rotation could disappear in a hurry if the bats keep firing. The Orioles have put 23 runs on the board through three games, and I’m banking on the visitors making more noise today.
There are a few Baltimore hitters worth a long look regarding MLB player props for this afternoon, but I’m targeting Adley Rutschman, who set the tone with two dingers on Opening Day and continues to wreak havoc.
Rutschman added another hit yesterday as part of a ruthless Orioles comeback, and he’s got a solid record against Toronto starter Chris Bassitt. In 11 at-bats against Bassitt, the Baltimore catcher has a .273 average, with three hits, including two doubles. Put simply, he’s the danger man.
Though Bassitt looked steady in Spring Training, he has something to prove after a sub-par 2024 campaign, and he’s been roughed up in his first start the past two years, including allowing nine runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Cardinals to begin the 2023 season. Baltimore will try to get to him early, and Rutschman is in prime position to lead that charge at the top of the order.
All three games in this season-opening series have cashed the Over, and the runs should flow again today at Rogers Centre. I like these plus-money odds for Rutschman — who boasts a career .328 average against the Blue Jays — to go Over 1.5 total bases.

I’m loading up on Rutschman props by adding an RBI to my SGP. He’s driven in 159 runs across the past two seasons, and there’s a path to a career-high this year in such a potent Baltimore offense.
Whether it’s a dinger or a clutch hit, he figures to get opportunities against one of his favorite opponents. Rutschman delivered at least seven RBI against Toronto in his first three seasons in the Big Leagues, and 53 of his 79 RBI last season came on the road. I see him adding to his 2025 tally this afternoon.
The Orioles moneyline also jumps out for the final leg of my SGP, despite the visitors starting 35-year-old rookie Tomoyuki Sugano. Sugano will be a relative unknown for the Toronto hitters, but he went 15-3 with a 1.67 ERA last season in Japan, and the visitors’ bullpen made light work of collecting the final 12 outs yesterday.
Baltimore is 46-32 in its past 78 road contests, while Toronto has cashed the first-five team total Under in 18 of its last 29 outings. Bassitt lost four of his final five starts last season, and he could be walking into an Orioles buzzsaw this afternoon.
