This morning, it was revealed at NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation in New York City that the Greg Daniels and Michael Koman-produced comedy series The Paper will premiere on Peacock in September. A first-look photo shows Domhnall Gleeson standing on top of a desk talking to the employees, which includes Oscar Nuñez.
The Paper, a mockumentary from Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, is set in the same universe as NBC’s Emmy Award-winning hit series The Office, and features the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch. The crew is searching for a new subject when they discover a historic Toledo newspaper, The Truth Teller, and the eager publisher trying to revive it.
Cast members Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Nunez, who will reprise the role of Oscar Martinez from the original series, all appeared at Radio City Music Hall. Also part of the ensemble cast but not in attendance: Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts will guest star.
Creators / Executive Producers of The Paper are Greg Daniels (The Office) and Michael Koman (Nathan for You). Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille) executive produce. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.
Peacock’s new lineup will also include the new scripted originals: All Her Fault, The Miniature Wife, The Burbs, and The Copenhagen Test.
