PGA Tour Makes Justin Thomas Announcement After RBC Heritage Win

A week after Rory McIlroy ended his over-a-decade major drought, Justin Thomas finally snapped another notable streak of futility in the PGA Tour when he won the 2025 RBC Heritage on Sunday.

With his win at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, S.C, Thomas topped the field of a PGA Tour event for the first time since May 2022, when he won that year’s PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Okla.

The win did not come without some anxious moments for Thomas, who edged Andrew Novak in a playoff after they finished the final round with 17-under scores.

“I didn’t realize how much I missed winning,” Thomas said after securing the victory, per Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press.

“I think it was the last thing missing, if you will,” said Thomas of his win, as he has made the cut in all 10 tournaments with five top 10s in the 2025 season.

“It’s hard to say, because obviously careers are so long and there’s so much up and down and lots going on that you never know what point of your career you’re at until it’s over.”

Thanks to his latest win, the 31-year-old Thomas earned 700 FedExCup points to move up to the No. 2 spot, per the PGA Tour’s communications department. Additionally, Thomas is No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

McIlroy remains the leader in FedExCup points with 2,433 while Thomas has 1,669 to his name. Scottie Scheffler, who failed to defend his RBC Heritage title, finished with a T-8 after scoring 12-under for the tournament and is third in the FedExCup points leaderboard with 1,428.
