Pistons and Timberwolves Skirmish Spills into Crowd

Things got physical Sunday night during an altercation between the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. As far as NBA skirmishes go, the one that broke out in the first half of this matchup featured a lot: action spilling into the baseline crowd, coaches getting involved, Pistons enforcer Isaiah Stewart, T-Wolves tough guy Rudy Gobert, and ejections aplenty.

See for yourself:

Tempers began to flare at the 9:01 mark of the second quarter during a small brush-up that involved Minnesota guard Donte DiVincenzo, Stewart and Gobert. Stewart got assessed a tech and play resumed.

Then just two plays later at the 8:36 mark, the mayhem really let loose after Minnesota big man Naz Reid went up for a layup and took exception to a foul by Detroit guard Ron Holland II. That’s when a big scrum spilled into the baseline crowd and coaches from both benches ran out trying to break it up — although some of the coaches couldn’t help but mix it up themselves.

When it all got sorted out, five players and two coaches got ejected. Holland, Stewart, guard Marcus Sasser, and head coach J.B. Bickerstaff of the Pistons were tossed. Reid, DiVincenzo, and assistant coach Pablo Prigioni of the Timberwolves were also ejected.

The game ended in a 123-104 win for Minnesota.
