After five years in Storrs, Connecticut, with the UConn Huskies, guard Paige Bueckers officially has a new home, selected by the Dallas Wings as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Joining Bueckers for her first season in Dallas is Dijonai Carrington, the 2024 WNBA Most Improved Player of the Year who spent her first four seasons with the Connecticut Sun.

Carrington was notably involved in an incident with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark last season. She accidentally poked the Rookie of the Year in the eye during a game, resulting in a black eye.
However, some began to claim that Carrington poked Clark’s eye on purpose, but both stars denied this.
“I don’t even know why I would intend to hit anybody in the eye,” Carrington said, per Los Angeles Times. “That doesn’t even make sense to me, but no, I didn’t. I didn’t know I hit her, actually. I was trying to make a play on the ball, and I guess I followed through and I hit her. So obviously it’s never intentional. That’s not even the type of player that I am.”

After Carrington and the Sun defeated Clark and the Fever in the playoffs, they were eliminated in the semifinals by the Minnesota Lynx.

Following the season, Connecticut coach Stephanie White elected to join Indiana, which made way for a trade that sent Carrington to Dallas.
Now, Carrington will join her new teammates Arike Ogunbowale and Bueckers on the Wings. Shortly after the fifth-year guard was drafted No. 1 overall, Carrington posted a message to Bueckers on X.
“SAYYY GO WINGSSS @paigebueckers1 🤭💙💚,” Carrington wrote with two photos of her and Bueckers.
Bueckers and Carrington will make their Dallas debut on May 16, taking on the Lynx in the 2025 season opener. They will get their first shot at Clark and the Fever on June 27.
