Morgan Wallen sparked quite the social media reaction with his decision on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.
The 31-year-old country music star appeared as the musical guest for this week’s episode. Wallen, appearing on the Saturday, March 29 episode of the show, abruptly walked off the stage following the end of the show. Typically, you’ll see the cast of the show, along with the guests, interacting on stage for several minutes as the credits roll.
Mikey Madison, the star of “Anora,” was the host of this weekend’s episode. Wallen, after performing a pair of songs from his upcoming album, “I’m The Problem,” whispered something into Madison’s ear and then walked off of the Studio 8H stage.
He then posted on his Instagram Stories: “Get me to God’s country.”
Fans of the NBC sketch comedy show are accusing Wallen of being “disrespectful.”
“SNL was phenomenal last night except for Morgan Wallen. Every bit to the end was funny and well done. Even his set was really cool. But he was noticeably sour, both performances were angry and weird. This was really disrespectful,” one fan wrote.
“I’m sorry, but that was kind of disrespectful of Morgan Wallen to walk off stage during the goodnights. He owes Mikey Madison, as well as everybody at SNL an apology,” one fan added.
“Apparently, God doesn’t teach you manners in Wallen country,” one fan added.
“I’m an SNL fan, saying last night was phenomenal is beyond a stretch… it was a 3/10 episode at best. They should not have invited Wallen,” one fan added.
New Yorkers weren’t very happy, either.
“morgan wallen disrespecting one of the best cities in america i want to pummel his face into concrete,” one fan added.
Wallen has yet to address his abrupt exit, outside of his brief – and cryptic – post on social media.
