Southern rapper featured on popular song dies on his 39th birthday

Young Scooter, an Atlanta musician featured on “Jet Lag,” a track by fellow rappers Future and Juice Wrld and streamed nearly a billion times on Spotify, has died.

First reported by TMZ, Young Scooter, né Kenneth Edward Bailey, died Friday on his 39th birthday. According to the New York Post, Bailey died at from a leg injury sustained while fleeing a police confrontation.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta Police say they were responding to a dispute at a local home involving a weapon. Police say Bailey suffered his leg injury from jumping fences. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Young Scooter’s most popular songs under his own name include 2017’s “Jugg King,” nearly 30 million Spotify streams, and “Hustlin,‘” more than 15 million streams. He recorded for record labels owned by rap stars Future and Gucci Mane.
