DEMOTTE, Ind. – Neighbors in DeMotte, Indiana experienced some considerable storm damage during Sunday afternoon’s severe weather system that moved through Chicagoland.
In one subdivision, high winds knocked down trees onto several structures. Some winds reached gusts of up to 80 mph.

Some neighbors said they had only about a two-minute warning to get to safety.
“The whole house shook and we’ve got a tree on top of the house broken over the ridge,” resident Chris Mock said.
They took cover when the tornado sirens sounded and when they came back outside, they said they found trees down in several spots.

“We heard a huge bang and a tree fell through our house,” resident Heather Marx said. “All four of my girls’ rooms are destroyed.”
Power outages are still being reported throughout Chicagoland.
