Apple TV+ is bringing back “Ted Lasso” for Season 4, and the show is now looking for a new young actor to play Henry, the soccer-loving son of the titular AFC Richmond coach.
Warner Bros. Television did not respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
Gus Turner played the son of Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) for Seasons 1-3. Henry appeared mostly during FaceTimes between himself and his dad, who was off coaching soccer on the other side of the world while he stayed in Kansas with his mother Michelle (Andrea Anders). However, Henry did make his way to London a number of times to visit Ted. He went once with Michelle and another time on his own after his parents separated. Henry was also the one to welcome his father home upon his return to Kansas at the end of the Season 3 finale.
So far, the only confirmed cast member for Season 4 is Sudeikis, who will return as Ted Lasso. Options had been picked up for other series actors Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift, but their involvement in the new season has yet to be confirmed.
Jack Burditt (“Modern Family,” “30 Rock”) has joined Season 4 as executive producer under his overall deal with Apple TV+. Sudeikis will also serve as executive producer alongside Brendan Hunt (who played Coach Beard) Toheeb Jimoh, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel. Goldstein will write and executive produce Season 4 with Leanne Bowen.
Bill Lawrence executive produces under his Doozer Productions banner with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh write and produce the new season, with Sasha Garron serving as co-producer. Julia Lindon is a writer and Dylan Marron serves as story editor. Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer has an overall deal, produces with Universal Television.
Deadline was the first to report the news of the recasting.
