Ted Lasso to Recast [Spoiler] Ahead of Season 4

We can now accurately predict at least one joke Ted Lasso will make in the upcoming fourth season: that his son looks awfully different after a growth spurt.

Ahead of the recently announced Season 4, the Apple TV+ comedy is recasting the role of Henry, Ted’s young son who was played by Gus Turner in all three previous seasons. According to our sister site Deadline, which broke the news, Henry will be 12 when the show returns and will have become a skilled soccer player; casting is reportedly underway for an actor to play the aged-up Henry.

Warner Bros. TV had no comment when reached by TVLine. Reps for Apple did not immediately respond to TVLine’s request for comment.

Turner’s iteration of Henry appeared in 11 total episodes across Ted Lasso‘s first three seasons, frequently on long-distance FaceTime calls with Ted, but occasionally in person when Henry visited his dad across the pond.

Ted Lasso officially secured a Season 4 renewal at Apple TV+ earlier this month, after initial reports emerged last August that the Emmy-winning comedy was eyeing a return following Season 3’s conclusion in May 2023. During an appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, series star Jason Sudeikis confirmed that Season 4 would revolve around Ted coaching a women’s team, but plot details are otherwise scarce.

Sudeikis is currently the only original cast member confirmed to return for Season 4, though Warner Bros. Television reportedly picked up the options last summer on three series regulars — Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) — who had all previously been contracted under Equity, a U.K. acting union. The studio would then have to reach deals with SAG-AFTRA members, including Sudeikis, Hunt (Coach Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).
