Tom Hiddleston Among Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast of 27 (!), First Loki Appearance Since Disney+ Series

Tom Hiddleston’s is among the few surprising-ish names announced on Wednesday for the MCU Phase 6 film Avengers: Doomsday, which is now officially in production and on track for a May 1, 2026 release.

This marks Hiddleston’s first turn as Loki since his Disney+ series’ Season 2 finale, which dropped in November 2023.

In a patience-testing stunt akin to Game of Thrones‘ Season 7 premiere date reveal via barely melting ice ice block, Marvel Studios spend the day revealing one cast member every 10 to 15 minutes, by way of a YouTube feed showcasing director chairs with actor names.

The announcement began with the reveal of Chris Hemsworth’s name (presumably back as Thor), followed by Vanessa Kirby (of the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, playing Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman), Anthony Mackie (as Sam Wilson/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Wyatt Russell (as Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s John Walker/U.S. Agent) and Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor).

Other Doomsday cast members include The Bear‘s Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Ben Grimm/Thing), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Kelsey Grammer (as The Marvels‘ Dr. Henry “Hank” McCoy/Beast), Lewis Pullman (Thunderbolts*’ “Bob”), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres/Falcon), Joseph Quinn (The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Johnny Storm/Human Torch), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian), Winston Duke (Black Panther‘s M’Baku) and Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost).

Hiddleston was announced about four hours in, followed by Patrick Stewart (as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ Professor X) and fellow X-Men film alumni Ian McKellen (presumably as Magneto), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) and James Marsden (Cyclops), and then Channing Tatum (Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Remy LeBeau/ Gambit).

Pedro Pascal (The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic) and an on-camera Robert Downey Jr. (playing at the very least Doctor Doom) concluded the hours-long rollout.
