The Warriors once again failed to eliminate the Rockets, falling 115-107 in Game 6 on their home floor. After botching a 3-1 lead, Golden State now finds itself on the brink of elimination and in familiar territory.

Supernova point guard Stephen Curry finished with 29 points and seven rebounds, marking the third time this series he notched 29 or more points. Curry drained six 3-pointers in the loss.

Jimmy Butler III, who was acquired at the trade deadline, delivered a strong performance in the pressure-packed showdown. He racked up 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

The only other two Warriors to reach double figures were Moses Moody and Brandon Podziemski, who tallied 13 and 10 points, respectively.

It marks the 11th Game 7 in Warriors’ franchise history, including the fifth since 2015. Their all-time record is 6-5 in such finales, including the 2018 Western Conference Finals where they knocked out the Rockets, 101-92.

Will Golden State finally put away Houston and set up a date with Anthony Edwards and the well-rested Minnesota Timberwolves, or will another 3-1 lead slip out of their hands once again?

The scenario conjures up memories of when they blew a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals. Those ghosts could be circulating through the Toyota Center by the end of the evening.

Showing their grit, Houston’s athleticism and versatility continue to provide problems for the aging Warriors. They have forced a winner-take-all scenario on their homecourt.

Five rockets scored in double figures as veteran Fred VanVleet once again rose to the occasion to bring Space City even. He poured in 29 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, knocking down 6 of 9 from beyond the arc. VanVleet remains on a heater, notching at least 25 points in three straight games.

Alperen Sengun chipped in 21 points, 14 rebounds and six assists while Amen Thompson added 14 points and seven rebounds. He leads the team in points (20.8), rebounds (11.5), assists (5.3) and steals (2.0) in the series.

The Rockets shot just under 45% and 40% from beyond the arc.

Two of Houston’s three victories in the series have been by double digits.

It is the 13th Game 7 in Rockets franchise history. They are 7-5 all-time in such finales. Will Houston complete the improbable comeback and put the finishing touches on Golden State’s crumbling dynasty?
