Warriors vs. Rockets Game 3 injury report: Jimmy Butler III questionable, Steph Curry available

That tension you’re feeling is the knowledge that the Golden State Warriors host the Houston Rockets for Game 3 of their Western Conference Playoffs first-round series tonight. It’s a big game. A really big game. A huge game.

And it’s a game where availability could be the deciding factor. Here’s the complete injury report for the game.

Warriors

Questionable — Jimmy Butler III (left pelvic contusion)

Butler suffered a nasty fall in the first quarter of Game 2, and was ruled out for the rest of the game. An MRI determined that Butler had a deep glute muscle contusion and it was reported that his status for Game 3 was in “serious jeopardy.” On Friday, Steve Kerr expressed some optimism that Butler would be able to play, and on Saturday morning, Mat Issa of Sportscasting reported that Butler will play. Hopefully that report is accurate. For now, Butler will remain questionable until he goes through pre-game warmups, but at least things are pointing in the right direction.

Questionable — Gary Payton II (right shoulder strain)

I said after Game 1 that Payton wasn’t a great matchup in this series because Houston doesn’t have any perimeter scorers that need to be locked down, and then Jalen Green went out and dropped an extremely efficient 38 points in Game 2. So, uhh … hopefully Payton is able to play.

Available — Steph Curry (right thumb splint)

Curry is still dealing with a thumb injury, but it won’t keep him out of this game. Notable, Brandin Podziemski isn’t even listed on the injury report.

Rockets

Out — Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle impingement)

Tate hasn’t played since April 9, and I wouldn’t expect to see him at any point this season.

Out — Jock Landale (right knee contusion)

As long as Steven Adams is healthy, Landale wasn’t likely to play in this series, but him being out hurts Houston’s depth a little.

Enjoy the game, Dub Nation! It tips off at 5:30 p.m. PT.
