When and how to watch the 2025 Australian Grand Prix F1 race

The 2025 Formula 1 season opener is just a matter of hours away. McLaren has already enjoyed a strong start to the weekend by securing a front-row lockout, with Lando Norris securing pole position and home hero Oscar Piastri lining up beside him in second.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will line up alongside Mercedes’ George Russell in third and fourth, respectively.

Standout qualifying performances include Yuki Tsunoda, who will start from fifth on the grid, and Williams’ Alex Albon, who is set to start from sixth.

Speaking about his front-row start in his home town, Piastri commented:

“Yeah, pretty happy. It’s obviously great to start the year on the front row – only one position further back than I would have liked – but no, I think it’s a great start to the year and great to have the team on the front row.

“Now we’ll reset and see what tomorrow has in store but I’m pretty happy with how qualifying went, just not quite enough in Q3, but it’s the start of a long season, so I’m pretty happy with a solid start.”
