NCAA TOURNAMENT
NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament
The women’s NCAA Tournamentis off and running, with Thursday seeing more First Four action as teams battle for a spot in the first round proper.
Two teams from opposite coasts meet up in the first game of the night, with the 19-13 Washington Huskies squaring off against the 23-6 Columbia Lions. Washington ended the regular season on a four-game winning streak, closing out their its season in the Big Ten on a high note. Columbia, meanwhile, lost just once in conference play but was upset in the Ivy League tournament final by Harvard.
The winner of that game, set for Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C., will face No. 6 seed West Virginia on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the bracket, the final game in the First Four will pit the High Point Panthers (21-11) against a William & Mary Tribe team that is already on a Cinderella run in March. William & Mary is the rare team to make the Big Dance with a sub-.500 record, having gone 15-18. However, an incredible run through the Colonial Athletic Association’s conference tournament secured the Tribe a bid, leaving them one win from a shot at No. 1 seed Texas.
