- Grant Ellis, star of season 29 of “The Bachelor,” proposed to contestant Juliana Pasquarosa during the show’s finale last night, Monday, March 25.
- The other finalist, Litia Garr, left the show confused and upset after Grant revealed he felt a stronger connection with Julianna.
- ABC has announced that “The Bachelorette” will not be airing this summer, but “Bachelor in Paradise” will return, with a new twist.
Grant Ellis’ season of “The Bachelor” is officially over. About six dozen roses later, he gave his final rose to his new fiancé.
From 25 women to just
two left standing, Grant made his choice between Litia Garr and Juliana Pasquarosa on last night’s finale and “After the Final Rose” episode.
Host Jesse Palmer teased a historic and emotional finale at the start of the episode, saying “there has never been a Bachelor who has been more torn over the two final women at the end.”
Before the finale aired, ABC showed clips last week of Grant struggling with deciding who to propose to.
In the teaser for last night’s episode, Grant was seen holding a ring box and saying: “Now, I feel confused. I love two women. It’s an impossible decision. It’s impossible. It’s not normal that you go into an engagement and you’re still trying to figure out who your person is… This is insane.”

Who did Grant propose to? Did he even get down on one knee after questioning who he was going to pick? Here’s a recap of last night’s season 29 finale of “The Bachelor.”
Who did Grant Ellis pick on ‘The Bachelor’ finale? Why did Grant choose Julianna over Litia?
In the end, it was Juliana who took Ellis’ final rose during the season finale.
The live audience and viewers at home watched Litia, 31, arrive first at the rainy proposal venue, which was a covered porch overlooking the Dominican Republic landscape.
After a couple of nervous deep breaths and some kisses, Litia told Grant how she felt about their journey.
“I started falling for you on week two, but I didn’t tell you because I don’t like to express it,” Litia said.
“On our one-on-one in Scotland, I knew that I loved you. Hearing you talk about your childhood, how hard it was for you growing up and how alone you felt sometimes — it made me want to give you a family, where you never have to feel that way…”
Litia continued about how much she loves Grant and sees him as her husband, saying that he showed her “how (she) wants to be loved forever.”
In the bottom corner of the screen, viewers saw reactions from the live audience. Most of them were covering their faces and making expressions that said “oh no,” as Litia poured her heart out to Grant.
“This is hard for me. Litia, I love you very much. I want to give you everything that you deserve, but I’m not your person. And I’m sorry to have gotten to this point,” Grant said. “My emotional connection is stronger somewhere else.”
Litia’s smile dropped immediately and she became very serious. In the past, this is the point where the person going home starts crying. But Litia barely shed a tear and started grilling Grant.
“When did it change?” she asked immediately.
“It didn’t change, I do love you. And I don’t want you to feel like I haven’t been open and I haven’t been honest, because I have been. I am truly sorry and I hope you don’t view me differently,” Grant said.
“Well, I do, for sure. Come on now,” Litia laughed, before adding: “You’re different than I thought.”
After some more awkward back-and-forth and a weird walk to the car that would take Litia away from the venue, she made her final exit from the show. She walked away saying that she was confused, sad and mad.
Later on in the show, Grant and Litia sat on stage with Jesse and discussed their breakup in front of the live audience — it was the first time they’d seen each other since that day. Litia brought up moments between them that didn’t make it into the show, like Grant telling her that he was “so confident” that it was her that he told both her and her mother on a call that he could end the whole show then and there because he knew he found “his wife.”
Litia said that the call happened early on in the show and that he never let up on his promises to her throughout the entire filming process. She grilled him for his lack of communication. Grant didn’t have much to say other than how sorry he was for overpromising throughout their journey.
Are Grant and Juliana engaged? How did the proposal go?
As most proposals are, Grant and Juliana’s proposal was sweet, emotional and full of smiles.
Following Grant’s breakup with Litia, Juliana arrived to the proposal venue, telling the cameras that she is “so in love with this man.”
“I’m so in love with Grant,” Juliana told the cameras. “Grant and I bonded over feeling really alone at times in our lives. But with him, I don’t feel like that anymore. Today the words I really want to hear from him is he’s going to choose me, and (that) he’s going to choose me outside of here every day for forever. And I’m going to continue to choose him over and over and over again, until death do us part.”
When she got to him, Julianna gave Grant a whole speech about how he made her believe she deserves true love and about how far they’ve come.
“I believe that between you, me, our families and God, the sky is the limit,” she told Grant. “And I just want you to know that I love you, and you would make me the luckiest girl in the world if I could spend the rest of my life with you, because that’s what I want so badly.”
Grant talked about how Julianna has inspired him, made him laugh with “her contagious smile,” and called her his best friend, saying that he’s grateful for their journey and will be there for her as her “man, friend and partner.”
He then dropped to one knee, flashing a diamond ring, and asked her to marry him. After he stood up, there was a flurry of kisses and “I love yous.”
Is ‘The Bachelor’ Grant still with Julianna? The happy couple made an appearance on the live finale
Yes! After the live audience and viewers at home watched their proposal, the happy couple sat on stage with Jesse and talked about how happy they are to be together and be able to take their relationship public now.
Jesse even surprised them with a trip to Italy, which Julianna seemed particularly excited about — she introduced herself to Grant for the first time with a cannoli in hand and comes from a big, Italian family, some of who were in the audience.
Both of them talked about how they’ve been since their engagement and said their families’ support has been amazing. Grant gushed about Julianna when Jesse asked him what it was about Julianna that made her the right decision.
“I think that her outlook on life, her character, her demeanor, her rising above situations in her life and how she carries herself. I think that she’s never changed who she is, and she’s somebody who’s proven to me that she’s a solid foundation,” Grant said. “I think that’s important in a relationship and in a friendship.”
See tweets, social media reactions to ‘The Bachelor’ finale
As per usual, Bachelor Nation was keeping X (formerly Twitter) on fire with “Bachelor” reactions and opinions during the finale.
The most popular tweets were about how Litia’s entire personality seemed to shift so quickly once Grant told her she wasn’t chosen, allowing viewers to see a side of her (and a new tone of voice) that hadn’t been caught on camera before. Others were focusing on what a “miss” it was that Grant let Litia go, saying she was “the real deal.”
Although X was ablaze with fans rushing to defend and protect Litia and criticize Grant, there was no mention or discussion around the fact that one day before Grant was set to propose to either Litia or Julianna, Litia dropped the bomb that she’d never been in love or said “I love you” to anyone before.
Did they announce the next ‘Bachelorette’? Is ABC canceling ‘The Bachelorette’?
No, there will be no new season of “The Bachelorette” this summer. The show is skipping this year’s “Bachelorette” season for the first time since 2007, according to reporting by Deadline and USA TODAY.
ABC has not officially canceled “The Bachelorette,” but hasn’t announced how long the break from “The Bachelor” spinoff could last. It’s unclear when another season of “The Bachelorette” could be expected.
Deadline, which first reported the news on Feb. 7, 2025, wrote that it’s not clear why ABC is taking a break, but said it could be due to scheduling conflicts with other “Bachelor” franchise shows that were postponed due to the scheduling of “The Golden Bachelorette” in the fall.
The most recent bachelorette was Miami resident Jenn Tran.
Is ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ coming back? What we know about ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ 2025
Yes! And the next season of ABC’s “Bachelor in Paradise” will be a little more mature. Literally.
The “Bachelor” spinoff is returning this summer, with not only the contestants from past seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” but also some from the “Golden” shows, who are 55 and up.
During the finale on Monday night, host Jesse Palmer called up Gary Levingston (from Joan Vassos’ inaugural season of “The Golden Bachelorette”) and Leslie Fhima (Gerry Turner’s “Golden Bachelor” runner-up) to make the announcement.
“The beach is my thing, so I’m very excited,” Fhima said. “And I’m so excited to be with my old friends, make new friends and just maybe find love.”
Palmer didn’t reveal how the show will work with what seems to be two separate casts on the beach, telling viewers to “tune in for themselves.”
According to ABC’s new promotional content following Ellis’ finale, it seems the casts from all four shows will mingle on the same set. “‘Golden’ men and women will be hitting the beach alongside all your ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette’ favorites from seasons past,” ABC says.
ABC hasn’t yet announced when, exactly, “Bachelor in Paradise” will start this summer. Season 9 aired in the fall; previous seasons have come out during the summer.
