WrestleMania’s very bad ending makes Cody Rhodes look like a dumbass

Some places do power rankings. Here at Cageside, we do a stock report.

In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite direction. After a busy week that included WrestleMania 41, a lot of fortunes were changed.

With that in mind, let’s see whose stock decreased the most this week:

Stock Down #3: AJ Styles

Not only did Styles lose against a YouTube douchebag at WrestleMania, but he was also laid out by Logan Paul the last two times they encountered each other on Raw leading up to the big event. It might be difficult for fans to take AJ seriously as a world title contender this summer with booking like this.

Stock Down #2: Rey Fenix & Rey Mysterio

Mysterio missed out on his WrestleMania 41 match against El Grande Americano due to an injury that occurred the night before on SmackDown. Rey Fenix filled in as Rey’s replacement, and it didn’t go well for the Lucha Bro. He was a victim of Americano’s loaded mask and pinned like a jabroni on the big stage. That Fenix was pinned in just his third singles match in WWE could open the floodgates for more to come. One reason why this result stands out is because his brother Penta has yet to be pinned in a singles match since debuting in WWE in January, whereas Fenix just debuted a couple weeks ago.

Stock Down #1: Cody Rhodes

It’s one thing for Cody to lose the WWE championship to old and slow John Cena at WrestleMania, but it’s the foolish way he lost the match that really makes him look like the dumbest ass. The Rock didn’t even need to show up to screw Cody over. Travis Scott and his very long entrance was the only help John needed to keep Rhodes preoccupied and set up his own cheating.

Rhodes then actually fell for it when Cena begged off like a coward after Cody prevented John from using the championship belt as a weapon. I’d reckon that just about every Cody fan watching the show knew John was luring Cody into a trap, but the man himself somehow couldn’t see it coming.

This is the same Cody Rhodes who was prepared to end Kevin Owens’ career in order to keep the title a couple months ago, and more recently told The Rock to “go fuck yourself.” In other words, the claim that it’s consistent for Cody to behave like a squeaky clean goody two-shoes doesn’t pass muster. On top of that, Cena directly warned Rhodes that he would be faced with such a decision at ‘Mania and it would be his downfall, which means Cody is even dumber for not being aware of what was about to happen.

The bottom line is that Cody Rhodes looks really dumb for the way he lost to John Cena at WrestleMania 41. It’s never fun to root for a dumb babyface, especially when that babyface’s stupidity costs him a championship at the most important show of the year against a guy who he says can’t even wrestle.

Now let’s see whose stock increased the most this week:

Stock Up #3: Dominik Mysterio

Dirty Dom received some of the loudest cheers of WrestleMania weekend when he used Eddie Guerrero’s frog splash on Finn Balor to become the new Intercontinental champion. This is Dom’s first taste of singles gold on the WWE main roster, and if he keeps getting reactions like that from the live audience, then this is just the beginning of potentially the biggest push of his career.

Stock Up #2: Becky Lynch

Lynch’s highly-anticipated WWE return finally took place at WrestleMania 41, where she immediately won championship gold with a tag team victory over Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Becky says she is back in WWE on a full-time basis, and it’s pretty clear she will continue right where she left off as one of the biggest stars on the roster.

Stock Up #1: Seth Rollins & Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman was the focal point of the best match and angle of WrestleMania weekend when he turned on both Roman Reigns and CM Punk to help Seth Rollins beat them in the main event on Saturday night. Rollins is now positioned to come out of WrestleMania as the top full-time heel in WWE, while Heyman once again latches himself onto a hot main event level performer.

There you have it, Cagesiders. Whose stock do you think changed the most this week?
